This procurement is for Various Roche Cobas 5800 Reagents, Controls and Consumables. A new diagnostic test that became available this year is being added to the NIH Department of Transfusion Medicine’s portfolio. Roche Diagnostics is the original manufacturer of the Roche COBAS® 5800, components, reagents, and consumables. The Roche COBAS® 5800 platform has been evaluated and qualified for testing of various sample types. The COBAS® 5800 system must be compatible with the current laboratory information system being used within DTM. The COBAS reagents, consumables and equipment are proprietary; they cannot be interchanged with other manufacturer’s instrumentation or reagents.
This acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 –Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold (SAT), contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstance of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Contracts awarded using FAR Part 13-Simplified Acquisition Procedures are exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6-Competition Requirements.
